Jasmyn Johnson enters her first season as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at UT Permian Basin in 2025-26.
Johnson hails from Monroe, Louisiana, where she attended and played basketball for West Monroe High School. Johnson helped lead West Monroe to four straight playoff appearances, including three semifinal showings, was tabbed second-team all-district after averaging 15 points and six rebounds per game as a senior, and was named the 2016 Ouachita Citizen’s Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Following a strong prep career, Johnson played Division I basketball for Northwestern State University of Louisiana (Natchitoches, La.). During her four seasons with the Lady Demons (2016-2020), Johnson played in 104 games with 52 starts and averaged 6.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.7 steals. She excelled as a defender, finishing fourth in steals and steals per game (2.3) in the Southland Conference during the 2019-20 campaign. In addition during her final season, Johnson became the first player in three seasons to start every game for the Lady Demons in a season, averaging a career-high 26.6 minutes per game, and had career bests in rebounds (113), rebounds per game (3.9), steals (66), points (286) and points per game (9.9).
Following her collegiate career, Johnson returned to West Monroe, where she coached girls basketball for one season.Â
Johnson later enlisted in the United States Air Force and served a two-year tour in Germany.
Following her military service, Johnson returned to coaching and accepted an assisting coaching position at Blinn College (Brenham, Texas), where she coached from 2023 to 2025 and saw the team finish 24-10 in her first season while winning the Region 14 Championship.
She earned her Bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science from Northwestern State University in 2020 and was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll in all four seasons (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020).
