Graduate Student (2025-26):
Joined the UTPB men's basketball team in December following the end of the football season... Started in 11 of 20 games... Ranked third on the team in scoring (13.7 ppg) and led the team with 1.6 steals per game... Shot 44.1 percent (100-227) from the field, 28.2 percent (24-85) from three and 70 percent (49-70) from the free throw line... Was top-five on the team in made field goals, field goal percentage, made 3-pointers, made free throws, assists (1.3 apg) and blocks (0.4 bpg)... Led the team with 13 made field goals in one game (Jan. 10 at Cameron) and five steals in one game (Jan. 2 vs. Dallas Baptist)... Scored in double figures in 12 of the team's final 13 games, including scoring over 20 points four times and over 30 points one time... Hit his first basket of the season with a midrange jumper from the baseline to make it 25-16 UTPB with seven minutes left in the first half vs. Texas A&M International (Dec. 13). He would finish as the Falcons' third leading scorer in the game with nine points despite it being just his second appearance of the season... Led the team with a season-high five steals vs. Dallas Baptist (Jan. 2)... Scored a season-high 33 points on 13-for-24 shooting from the field and 4-for-11 shooting from three in a 115-108 double-overtime victory at Cameron (Jan. 10)... Averaged 26.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals during the week vs. Midwestern State (Feb. 19) and No. 10 Lubbock Christian (Feb. 21). In a 105-99 double-overtime win over MSU, McKenzie tied for the game-high with 24 points, was 9-for-19 from the field, 2-for-5 from three and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, and added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. After two free throws by McKenzie to make it 103-97 with 29 seconds left in the second overtime period, McKenzie came up with a steal and took it the other way for a fastbreak layup to seal the win. In all between both overtimes against the Mustangs, McKenzie scored 12 points and had three defensive rebounds. McKenzie also had six points, two defensive rebounds and two steals during the second overtime period. Two days later, McKenzie had it going on, scoring the first points for the Falcons with a 3-pointer and finishing his Senior Day with 29 points in a one-possession loss, 80-77, against LCU. McKenzie attempted to take matters into his own hands in the final five minutes against the Chaps, scoring on a jumper to make it 66-66 before tying it again (68-68) with a layup with under four minutes remaining. McKenzie then drained a 3-pointer on the very next Falcons' possession to give UTPB a 71-68 lead with just over three minutes to go, and then another layup by McKenzie with two and a half minutes remaining made it a 73-71 UTPB advantage... In his final game as a Falcon at West Texas A&M (Feb. 28), McKenzie scored 21 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field and a 5-for-6 mark from the free throw line to reach the 20-point mark for the third time in the final four games of the season.
