2025 (Redshirt Freshman):
Appeared in six games, including each of the final three games of the regular season... Had three rushing attempts for 25 yards and a touchdown... Had one rushing attempt in three different games and averaged 8.3 yards per rush... Recorded his first rushing attempt of the year and had his lone reception of the season vs. Midwestern State (Sept. 27)... Had a fumble recovery on special teams (kickoff) against No. 13 Central Washington (Oct. 11)... Scored his first-career touchdown at UTPB with a season-long 20-yard run in the final two minutes of the regular-season finale vs. Sul Ross State (Nov. 15)... Named to the Spring 2026 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Attended Midland Legacy High School... Was a four-year starter at defensive back for Midland Legacy High School... On defense he was a two-time First-Team All-District cornerback... On offense he was a unanimous District 2-6A MVP running back... Legacy senior running back Damien Johnson was named District MVP on the All-District 2-6A Football Team after leading the Rebels to the outright district title with a 4-1 mark... Rushed for 2,000-plus yards in his career and tied Cedric Benson's record for rushing yards in a single game... As a senior (2023), he rushed for 1,817 yards and 28 touchdowns on 202 carries (9.0 yards per carry); totaled 2,142 all-purpose yards and 30 total touchdowns; and recorded 16 tackles to go along with one interception... Midland Legacy senior running back Damien Johnson is ABC Big 2’s Week Five Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Rebels’ 39-31 win over Judson in September 2023. Johnson ran for 201 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries in a 39-31 win over Converse Judson. He also scored a touchdown on a 79-yard kickoff return that pushed Legacy ahead 29-25 in the third quarter. Johnson had two kickoff returns for 116 yards. It turns out Johnson is a pretty good running back. “I’ve always known I was one,” Johnson said. “I was [a running back] in Louisiana before I moved out here. It feels natural. It feels like instincts. Scoring touchdowns is my main goal. It’s what I’ve done all my life"... Also competed in track.
