Tyler Wright

Tyler Wright enters his second season as the UT Permian Basin Quarterbacks coach. 

In Wright’s first season, freshman quarterback Taylor Null set several school records.  Null set single-season records for passing yards with 2,145 yards, touchdowns with 16 and completions with 176.  Null also set a single-game record with 430 passing yards against Humboldt State, a tied the single-game record with four touchdowns in that same game.  Null also threw for the second most yards in a game when he threw for 409 the next week against Angelo State.  After the season he was named a Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention. 

Prior to coaching at UTPB, Coach Wright was at Odessa Permian High School where they compiled a 25-8 record and was a part of one of the most prolific offenses in MOJO history averaging just north of 42 points a game over the course of the three years he was there.

Wright attended Tarleton State University where he played football all four years. Over the course of his career he accumulated 41 catches for 474 yards and 3 touchdowns, winning a Lone Star Conference Championship in 2013. After playing he interned for the Tarleton State coaching staff during his final semester on campus.

Wright, a 2011 graduate of Granbury High School, was an all-state Wide Receiver his senior year.
