As a quarterback at Odessa High School, Cota was a two-time Built Ford Tough 6A Player of the Week (2023 and 2024) who threw season-highs of 3,054 passing yards and 37 passing touchdowns and tossed single-game school records of eight touchdowns and 534 yards.
