Jon Clark enters his first season coaching at UT Permian Basin, where he will coach defensive backs.
Clark comes to Odessa after spending time at Central Oklahoma where he coached linebackers for a season. Prior to that, he coached at Missouri Southern and at Garden City Community College in Kansas, where he helped the team to a conference title and a national runner-up finish.
Clark spent two years prior to that at the University of Nebraska, where he coached several defensive backs that went on to play professionally in the NFL. From 2016-17 Clark served as a defensive assistant at Nebraska. He was a graduate assistant coach there in 2015.
Clark spent the 2014 season at East Texas Baptist and prior to that, he coached at the high school level in Arizona in 2013.
Prior to Canyon State Academy (Ariz.), Clark was a student assistant at his alma mater.
Before coaching, Clark was a defensive back for Arizona State from 2007-10. Clark graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and family studies and he is a native of Arlington, Texas, where he earned All-State honors at Seguin High.
