Jake Maxwell joins UT Permian Basin as the Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator for his first season in 2023.  Maxwell comes from East Central University after serving under new Falcon Head Coach Kris McCullough in the same role last season.

Under his guidance in 2022, the offensive line had two players receive All-Great American Conference Honors, while Maximus Johnson received All-Region honors, and the team rushed for 162 yards per game. He was part of a staff that put together the program’s best season since becoming a NCAA Division II football program, going on to win the Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl over Texas A&M Kingsville, and finishing the season 9-3.  He previously also served as the assistant Offensive Line/Tight Ends coach at ECU from 2019-20.

He spent the 2021 season at MSU-Northern. During his time there he had three players receive All-Conference Honors, with Trisitin Willis named First Team All Conference.  In his first stint at East Central, he coached three lineman to All-Conference Honors, with Judd Terry and Wyatt Galante both earning a spot on the First Team All-Conference. He helped produce an offense that increased its production 1,900 yards and 13 points per game from the previous season while being the only offense in the GAC with at least 190 rushing and passing yards per game.

He spent three years playing for the University of Wisconsin, but his career was was cut short due to injury. He was a two-year starter at right tackle, playign in 18 games, with 12 starts, including a start in the Holiday Bowl against USC in 2015. He also volunteered as a coach with the program from 2018 through spring ball of 2019. Originally from Greendale, Wisconsin. He currently resides in Midland with his wife Sophia and his son Levvy.
