Brandon Burton enters his first year as Defensive Backs and Defensive Passing Game Coordinator at UT Permian Basin. Burton joins the Falcons after most recently coaching the Defensive Backs for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football League.
"Brandon comes to us after coaching at Utah and spending time in the AAFL. He has experience coaching kids and coaching professionals and in running meeting rooms and position groups," said Head Coach Justin Carrigan. "He has the experience and professionalism, and has played at the highest level that all players dream of. He's a passionate, exciting guy and we're happy to have him join our staff."
Burton redshirted and played three seasons at Utah from 2006-2010. An All-Mountain West Cornerback in 2010, he entered the NFL Draft after his junior season and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 5th round of the 2011 NFL Draft. A five-year NFL player, he spent two years with the Vikings, played two seasons with the Buffalo Bills and played his final season with the Indianapolis Colts.
He returned to Utah, helping to coach the Utes as a student assistant in 2016 before taking on a graduate assistant role for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Burton graduated with his Bachelor of Economics from Utah in 2016.
