Alex Wierzbicki

Alex Wierzbicki enters his first season at UT Permian Basin as the Run Game Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator, and Defensive Line Coach in 2023.
 
Wierzbicki comes to UTPB after spending the previous two seasons at Texas A&M - Kingsville as the Defensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. At Texas A&M - Kingsville, Wierzbicki coached four All-Lone Star Conference selections. He also assisted the defense in finishing in the top three in scoring defense and rushing defense in the LSC. 

Prior to Kingsville, Wierzbicki spent four seasons at Tyler Junior College as Defensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, where he coached eight student-athletes who went on to be named All-Conference for the Apaches.  His defensive line registered 34 sacks and 92 rushing yards allowed per game in 2019, while he also assisted with special teams. Part of Wierzbicki’s efforts at Tyler included 84 transfers to four-year programs
 
Prior to his time at Tyler, Wierzbicki spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Defensive Line Coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State. There he was responsible for practice and film sessions along with gameday set-up and operations. He also spent a year as an Assistant Coach at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, coaching the defensive line and tight ends.
 
While at SWOSU, the defense finished second in the Great American Conference with 30 sacks in back-to-back seasons in 2015 and 2016. He also coached two All-Oklahoma Sports Network honorees in T.J. Harris and Navajo Smith at SWOSU, and an All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree in Joe Ortega while at Marietta.
 
Before he began his coaching career, Wierzbicki was a member of the Savannah State University football team from 2010-13. He was a four-year letter winner as a defensive end and tight end and was named team captain ahead of his senior season.
 
Wierzbicki graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Savannah State in 2014 and completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from SWOSU in 2016.
