David Dawson has a wide-ranging baseball background as a player, coach, scout, and statistical analyst.

He played under the guidance of Marc Johnson during Johnson's storied 52 year career at the renowned Cherry Creek High School in Colorado, where he hit .400 with 30 home runs in his career.

Dawson continued his prolific hitting in his one and only college season with a .444 average and six home runs, good for top-10 in the nation in batting average that year.

Years later, Dawson briefly played professionally in the Independent Leagues, and went on to a 20-year successful entrepreneurial endeavor.

During that time, he also coached at the high school level and is currently in his 15th year as an Associate Scout with the Cincinnati Reds.

Integral in the development of novel computer simulation software designed for MLB to maximize statistical production, Dawson hopes to help our talented coaching staff usher The University of Texas Permian Basin into a new era of consistent success.

David and his wife of 24 years, Agate, have two children. Their daughter Dune, a graduate of Baylor University, is in the process of getting her Doctorate in Anesthesiology, and their son Ty is pursuing Mechanical Engineering while also playing baseball for Occidental College.
