David Dawson has a wide-ranging baseball background as a player, coach, scout, and statistical analyst. During his first year at UT Permian Basin, the coaching staff started the Fall with 12 players on campus, and ended up winning a shocking 20 games in the Lone Star Conference in 2025, and had one player sign a professional contract. Dawson's 1st recruiting  class resulted in the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year, and 3 All-Conference  honorees. Dawson's hope of ushering the University of Texas Permian Basin into a new era of consistent success has gotten off to a phenomenal start.

Integral in the development of novel predictive simulation software designed for MLB to maximize statistical production, Dawson is developing a reputation for his brilliant analytical mind. He is excited about the prospect of implementing his unique skill set in the data analytics specialty of Simulation Forecasting.

During his extensive scouting tenure, Dawson has contributed in identifying 26 of the Cincinnati Reds' draft picks, including (2) 1st Round draft picks, 7 Major Leaguers, and famously, correctly predicted that Bryce Rainer would be a 1st Round draft pick out of high school after seeing him play in only one game as an 8 year old child.

As a player, Dawson played under the guidance of Marc Johnson during Johnson's storied 52 year career at the renowned Cherry Creek High School in Colorado, where he hit .400 with 30 home runs in his career. Dawson continued his prolific hitting in his one and only college season with a .444 average and six home runs, good for top-10 in the nation in batting average that year. Years later, Dawson briefly played professionally in the Independent Professional Leagues, and went on to a 20-year successful entrepreneurial endeavor. During  that time, he also coached at the high school level and is currently in his 16th year as an Associate Scout with the Cincinnati Reds.

David and his wife of 25 years, Agate, have two children, Dune and Ty.
