2018: Simmons played in 11 games as a junior, rushing for 488 yards on 111 carries with a pair of touchdowns. He had 10 rushes for 78 yards at Texas Southern. He ran eight times for 53 yards at Northern Michigan. Simmons ran for 101 yards and a touchdown on 24 attempts against MSU Texas. He had 58 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries against Western New Mexico. He rushed for 75 yards on 12 carries against Humboldt State.

2017: Simmons played in nine games as a sophomore, rushing for 388 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He rushed for 64 yards against Tarleton. He had 110 rushing yards and a touchdown against Quincy. He ran for a season-high 133 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown against MSU Texas.
 
2016: Simmons appeared in nine games as a freshman, running for 295 yards and five touchdowns. He rushed seven times for 37 yards against West Texas A&M. He had a season-high 75 yards and a touchdown against Texas A&M - Kingsville on 19 carries. Simmons scored a touchdown on 10 carries for 43 yards against Oklahoma Panhandle State and had a 36-yard kick return. He rushed a season-high 22 times for 59 yards and a score at MSU Texas. He scored a touchdown on 13 carries for 30 yards and had two catches for four yards with two kick returns for 17 yards against Texas A&M - Commerce. He rushed 13 times for 51 yards and a touchdown with two catches for 10 yards against Angelo State.
