Biography

2018: Hoad started 11 games as a junior leading the Lone Star Conference and was third in the nation with 133 tackles, while adding 6.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He was named First-Team Lone Star Conference and was the 2018 Lone Star Conference Linebacker of the Year. He was selected D2CCA and Don Hansen All-Region, and was named a Don Hansen Third Team All-American. He is the current NCAA tackles leader across all divisions.

 

He opened the season with six tackles at Texas Southern. He recorded 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss for five yards, and 0.5 sacks for three yards at Northern Michigan. Hoad had nine tackles against MSU Texas. He recorded 15 tackles and scooped up a fumbled interception for seven yards against Tarleton. He repeated with 15 tackles and 2.5 tackles-for-loss for five yards against Western New Mexico. He had one sack for two yards and six tackles against Humboldt State. He made 11 solo tackles and 17 total tackles against Angelo State. He tallied a season-high 19 tackles, forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery at Eastern New Mexico. Hoad had 17 tackles, 11 solo, and a forced fumble against Texas A&M - Commerce. He recorded 12 tackles and one tackle-for-loss for four yards at Texas A&M – Kingsville.

2017: Hoad started in 11 games as a sophomore, leading the Falcons with 122 tackles. He added two interceptions, three forced fumbles and had two fumble recoveries on the year. He was named Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention. Hoad had 15 tackles and a forced fumble at Lamar. He made 13 tackles and had an interception at West Texas A&M. He recorded 13 tackles and had a 49-yard interception return at Western New Mexico. He made nine tackles and had a sack and forced a fumble against Tarleton. Hoad made 19 tackles and a fumble recovery at Eastern New Mexico. He recorded 10 tackles against Texas A&M - Kingsville. He forced and recovered a fumble against Quincy. He made 14 tackles against MSU Texas.

 

2016: Hoad started 11 games as a freshman and led the Falcons with 114 tackles and 11 tackles-for-loss for 45 yards. He also led the team with two forced fumbles on the season. He recorded 12 tackles in the season-opener against Sul Ross. He made 13 tackles with 1.5 tackles-for-loss for seven yards with a pair of forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for 32 yards against Arizona Christian. He made 10 tackles with a sack for nine yards against West Texas A&M. He had 10 tackles with 1.5 tackles-for-loss against Tarleton. He made a season-high 18 tackles against Eastern New Mexico. He had 11 tackles with a 10-yard interception against Texas A&M - Kingsville. Hoad had 13 tackles with two tackles-for-loss and 0.5 sacks for three yards against Oklahoma Panhandle State. He recorded 12 tackles and reached double-digit tackles for the eighth time on the season against Angelo State.
