Biography
AS A JUNIOR: Was named to the second team All-Heartland Basketball Team and Defensive Player of the Year after averaging nearly a double-double with 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds an outing…Was the nation's leader in steals with 134, averaging 4.61 per outing...Her 12.8 points was second best on the team and was by far the team’s best rebounder…Started all but one of the team’s games and averaged just over 28 minutes of action a game…Recorded seven double-doubles, four of which came on back-to-back games…Scored a career-high 23 points on 11-of-18 shooting against Abilene Christian.
PRIOR TO UTPB: Played one season at Howard College where she helped lead the Hawks to a 26-7 record en route to a district and regional championship and a trip to the national tournament…Averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.1 steals a game…Was named the Defensive Player of the Year as well as first team all-conference and all-region…Was on the Dean’s List and was the recipient of an athletic scholarship…Played he freshman season at Arkansas-Fort Smith where she was named to the all-conference team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years at Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio where she was named first-team All-City, all-district and honorable mention All-State her senior season where she averaged 15.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.6 steals a game…Was named the Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Ohio Team…Also played tennis her junior and senior seasons.
PERSONAL: Miesha Blackshear was born Jan. 29, 1988 in Toledo Ohio…Is the daughter of Nathaniel and Delbra Blackshear of Toledo…Has six siblings…Majoring in psychology.
