ODESSA, Texas (August 31, 2026) – Senior forward Cassandra Ramirez of The University of Texas Permian Basin women's soccer team was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first week of the 2026 season.

Ramirez recorded a hat trick on just four shots in only 26 minutes to help the Falcons to a season-opening win over Southwest (N.M). Ramirez had the only hat trick in the LSC over opening weekend and became the fourth player in program history to have a three-goal game – first since 2022.

It is the earliest in a season UTPB women's soccer has earned a player of the week award in the LSC. In addition, Ramirez becomes the fourth Falcon in program history to be named a player of the week in the LSC. She joins former teammates Jenna McEnaney (Goalkeeper of the Week – Oct. 3, 2022) and Tatiana Leggiero (Offensive Player of the Week – Oct. 10, 2023), and current teammate Valeria Delgado (Goalkeeper of the Week – Oct. 1, 2024).

UTPB Head Coach Garrett Kull said, "It is always rewarding to see a player from the Midland-Odessa area receive recognition at the next level. Cassie has been involved with the community and she is very proud to be from Odessa. She has really been a standout for the next generation of players in the Permian Basin."
