ODESSA, Texas (April 26, 2026) – The UT Permian Basin men's golf team is headed back to the NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional for the first time since 2024, the NCAA announced on Sunday. The NCAA announced the field of 80 teams that have been selected to participate in regional competition of the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. Tournaments will be conducted at four regional sites.
The Falcons are seeded No. 5 in the South Central Region and will be one of 20 teams competing at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, California, on May 7-9.
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals, May 18-22 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven.
This will be the third time in school history the Falcons will compete in the NCAA Regional, with their first two appearances coming in 2023 and 2024.
The Falcons will be joined by six other Lone Star Conference teams and three teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Advancing out of the South Central Region along with the Falcons are No. 1-seeded West Texas A&M, No. 2-seeded Colorado State-Pueblo, No. 3-seeded Colorado Mesa, No. 4-seeded St. Mary's, No. 6-seeded DBU, No. 7-seeded Cameron, No. 8-seeded UT Tyler, No. 9-seeded Colorado Christian and No. 10-seeded Midwestern State.
Advancing from the West Region are No. 1-seeded Western Washington, No. 2-seeded Chico State (Calif.), No. 3-seeded Cal State-East Bay, No. 4-seeded Hawaii Hilo, No. 5-seeded California State-San Bernardino, No. 6-seeded Simon Frasier (B.C.), No. 7-seeded California State-Monterey Bay, No. 8-seeded California State-San Marcos, No. 9-seeded Dominican (Calif.) and No. 10-seeded Vanguard (Calif.).
