Falcons suffer series sweep vs. Comets

RICHARDSON, Texas (March 22, 2026) – The University of Texas Permian Basin baseball team was defeated in game four of its series at The University of Texas at Dallas, falling 19-2 in seven innings.

UT Dallas scored seven runs on just one hit in the bottom of the first, starting the game with back-to-back hit by pitches and a walk before three straight RBI's with one out on a walk, a hit by pitch and then another walk.

That was followed by a three-run triple to right center field to clear the bases, and then a sacrifice fly to right field brought that runner home to round out the scoring in the first inning.

In all, there were three walks and three hit by pitches issued by the Falcons in the bottom of the first.

After another seven-run inning in the fourth, this time on three hits and six walks, UTD had a combined 19 runs on nine hits and 10 walks through four innings of the game.

Conversely, UTPB had just two base runners in the first four innings.

Marcos Castro delivered his third RBI-single of the weekend with a two-out single to right field to score Carlos Chavez in the fifth inning.

Jarren Lewis was 2-for-2 and led off the final inning with a home run down the left field line, his first home run in two seasons as a Falcon.

UTPB (8-22 overall, 8-22 Lone Star Conference) used nine pitchers in the game and totaled 12 walks.

UTD (22-8, 22-8) has now swept four of its first eight Lone Star Conference series in program history, and finishes the weekend in a three-team tie for first place in the conference standings.

Next up, UT Permian Basin remains on the road to play in back-to-back road series for the first and only time this season. UTPB will next play at No. 20 The University of Texas at Tyler March 27-29.
