McKyle So'oto was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week after the Falcons' upset win at Northeastern State University. He is the second UTPB linebacker to win the LSC Defensive Player of the Week award in as many weeks.
So'oto had had 15 tackles – 10 solo – one interception and one sack to fuel a 38-27 road win over No. 21 Northeastern State. Two of his tackles were for loss and he led a unit that set a program record with five interceptions. So'oto had seven tackles – five solo – in the fourth quarter alone. His interception, which he returned 28 yards, came in the third quarter as UTPB kept the RiverHawks off the scoreboard. So'oto has helped the Falcons to a four-game winning streak.
Next up, the 4-1 Falcons return to LSC action and finish off a four-game road trip by playing at West Texas A&M University. The action will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, from Canyon, Texas.
