ODESSA, Texas (April 1, 2025) – After pitching a complete-game, one-hit shutout against No. 3 The University of Texas at Tyler on Saturday, March 29, freshman right-handed pitcher Timmy LaChappa of The University of Texas Permian Basin baseball team was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week.

LaChappa tossed a one-hit shutout to beat nationally-ranked UT Tyler in a 1-0 ballgame. LaChappa struck out three batters and allowed just a fourth-inning single in his seven-inning gem. He retired the final 10 batters to become the first pitcher to shut out the Patriots this season. It was just the fourth one-hitter in program history and first since 2017. On the week, LaChappa hurled nine shutout innings as he had two perfect innings with three strikeouts in a non-conference midweek game against Sul Ross State.

UTPB Head Coach Justin Phillips said, "I am extremely proud of the work and commitment to this program that Timmy has portrayed. He has executed when he has needed to and has really stepped up for his team in critical moments."

Next up, LaChappa and the rest of the Falcons will travel to Alpine, Texas, to battle Sul Ross State University this weekend (Apr. 4-6).
