ODESSA, Texas (February 4, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin men and women's swimming & diving teams have both been selected by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as a Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2024 semester. The men and women posted GPAs of 3.21 and 3.19 respectively to earn the honors.
In total, 781 teams from 459 institutions earned the honor. Teams were selected on the basis of their Fall 2024 grade point averages and represent 19,209 student-athletes. To earn this prestigious recognition, teams were required to achieve a grade point average (GPA) above 3.0 during the Fall 2024 semester.
"We needed to refocus on the meaning of being a student-athlete," said UTPB Head Coach
Brian Schroeder. "Our coaching staff put more of an emphasis on being successful in the classroom first, and I am proud of our team for making that happen."
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, commented on the impressive accomplishments, saying, "As the Executive Director of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association, I am thrilled to announce that the CSCAA has selected UT-Permian Basin's men's and women's swimming & diving teams for our Scholar All-America award.
