ODESSA, Texas (December 23, 2025) – After three successful seasons at the helm of Falcon football, head coach
Kris McCullough has accepted a head coaching opportunity at a Division I program.
"We have been extremely fortunate to have had Kris leading our football program the past three seasons. He has certainly built a foundation for the continued success of Falcon football and I wish he and his family nothing but the best moving forward," said
Scott Larson, Vice President of Athletics."
"I am proud of Kris and grateful for his role in building a football program that the entire University can be proud of," said UTPB President Dr. Sandra Woodley. "We are excited to build on this momentum and look toward an exciting future for Falcon football."
Under McCullough's leadership, the Falcons are coming off the most successful season in school history, finishing 11–3 and advancing to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals. He led UTPB to three consecutive winning seasons, including two seasons with 10 or more wins, compiling a 28–10 overall record and a 21–5 mark in Lone Star Conference play. McCullough departs as the program's all-time winningest head coach.
"I'm grateful to the Falcon family for three unforgettable years. The Permian Basin has meant so much to my family, and it will always feel like home in many ways, especially with both of our children being born here. I wish the Falcons nothing but success moving forward," said

While his impact on the field is undeniable, McCullough's influence extended beyond wins and losses, helping shape the culture of Falcon football and setting a standard for excellence moving forward.

Mike Babcock will serve as the Interim Head Coach while UTPB Athletics conducts a national search for the program's next permanent head coach.
