Falcons Bring the Fun at Texas Roadhouse Trunk or Treat

The University of Texas Permian Basin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) brought energy, excitement, and Falcon spirit to the annual Trunk or Treat event at Texas Roadhouse (Odessa) on Monday, October 27, connecting with local families and celebrating the Halloween season in true community fashion. This event also gave SAAC members a chance to support Texas Roadhouse, a longtime supporter of UTPB Athletics, by showing their appreciation and joining in on a night of fun for the community.

SAAC President Sebastian Garcia said the event was more than just candy and costumes — it was about showing up for the Permian Basin community.SAAC 2

"It's important for us to show up for our community," Garcia said. "Even though a lot of our athletes aren't from Odessa, we still make it our home and want to support everyone in this community any way we can."

Student-athletes from multiple teams joined in the fun, passing out pom poms, setting up mini goals for kids - who were excited to show off their shooting skills - and juggling tennis balls with young visitors. The Falcons also enjoyed admiring the creativity of all the Halloween costumes.

"It was a lot of fun and the kids were super competitive," Garcia added.

For Garcia, the event was a reminder of the positive impact UTPB student-athletes can have off the field and court.

"I really hope this is something SAAC plans to do every year," he said. "Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and this was a great way to get out there and make some smiles."SAAC 3

As the Falcons continue to strengthen their connection with the community, events like Trunk or Treat serve as a fun reminder that UTPB student-athletes are committed to giving back and spreading Falcon pride — one candy bucket at a time.
