Maison Adeleye was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week while sophomore forward
Chuks Ejiofor was also named the Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Adeleye averaged 25 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and one block to fuel wins over Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M. Adeleye shot 51.6 percent from the field and made 7-of-15 three-point attempts. In the 78-74 victory over ENMU, Adeleye had a game-high 26 points and hit the game-sealing layup with 10 seconds left. In a 78-71 win against WT, he scored 20-plus points for the fourth straight game. Adeleye added a steal and pulled down all his rebounds on the defensive end. His play helped the Falcons secure their fourth consecutive win – seventh over their last eight games – and stay atop the LSC standings.
Ejiofor came off the bench to block eight shots – including a school-record seven in one game – and pull down eight rebounds to help the Falcons secure victories against Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M. Ejiofor's single-game block total came in a 78-71 win over WT and broke the mark set by Erik Martin during the 2011-12 season. It was the second highest single-game total in the league this season. In a 78-74 victory against ENMU, Ejiofor and company held the league's top-scoring offense to just 37.5 percent shooting. Ejiofor also added a bucket and three free throws as the Falcons stayed atop the LSC standings and extended their winning streak to four games.
Adeleye, who was also named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season, is the first Falcon to earn the Offensive Player of the Week award in the last two seasons.
Ejiofor, meanwhile, is the third Falcon to earn the Defensive Player of the Week award so far this season.
It is the first time UTPB men's basketball has swept the LSC Player of the Week awards since January 22, 2018.
UT Permian Basin (12-3 overall) and St. Mary's (10-4) are the only two Lone Star Conference teams that have not lost twice in conference play. UTPB is 8-1, while StMU is 7-1. Both have won four games in a row.
The Falcons have two more home games this week against Lubbock Christian University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, and Midwestern State University at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 18.
