We've all heard the saying, "a picture is worth 1,000 words." One Falcon baseball fan has made that saying a reality, capturing the team's historic season one photo at a time.  

Tori Kenney has made it her mission to share the story of The Basin Bunch, aka the UTPB Baseball team, throughout their 2023-24 season. 

"I wanted to showcase UTPB Baseball. A lot of people didn't realize UTPB had a baseball team, and I wanted to change that," said Kenney. "I wanted to make sure they knew they had people cheering for them and supporting them, that baseball is just as important as the other sports at UTPB." 

"The Basin Bunch" is what the team calls themselves and their fans have caught on. Thanks to the help of Kenney, the team's slogan and identity has grown, making it a recognizable saying across campus and the community. 

Kenney was born and raised in Citrus County, Florida, but moved to Odessa over 10 years ago. She's currently the Social Marketing Specialist at First Priority Permian Basin. While she has always had a passion for photography, her interest in sports photography developed thanks to her dad.  

"My dad was a wrestling coach in Florida, so that's where my love for sports photography came from as well as videography," said Kenney. 

Kenney started taking photos of The Basin Bunch in October, and she quickly became a fan. 

"My favorite thing was just getting to know the guys, the coaches, and to be a part of a program that is going to do really great things," said Kenney. "I think this season went amazing and I'm extremely proud of the team and what they were able to accomplish this year. They're an amazing group of guys who just got better and better with each week. I feel honored that I was able to witness it. Thank you to Coach Grinder and the team for letting me capture this season and showcase what a great program this is. I can't wait for the next season!" 

Kenney's dedication to the program hasn't gone unnoticed. Head Baseball Coach Gabe Grinder says he's very appreciative for all that she has done.  

"Tori has been a big part of bringing The Basin Bunch to life. She was with our team all season and told our story through pictures and video. The time she has given our team has helped us to create a brand that never existed before. We can't thank her enough for the time that she has put into helping us take an idea and turn it into what The Basin Bunch is now today. Our players, parents, and fans have benefited greatly from the time, energy, and effort that Tori so selflessly gives. She has helped to elevate our program this year, and I look forward to how she will continue to help us build our brand."
