ODESSA, Texas - A late rally by the University of Texas Permian Basin softball team forced extra innings on Sunday against Texas A&M International. Despite some timely hitting and a home run by
Delaney Doelitsch, the Falcons fell 7-3 in nine innings.

For Doeslitsch it was her first home run at UTPB and capped off a big series with three hits and five RBI.
Julia Bumford had a pair of hits on the day and drove in a run while
Angelina Arriaga also picked up two hits and walked in the effort. Falcon pitching allowed just three earned runs on the day.
Emery Aguilar went 5.2 innings and allowed four runs while
Destini Trahan surrendered three runs in 3.1, all unearned.

After giving up a run in the top of the third, the Falcons answered back in their half of the inning. Bumford led off the inning with a base hit and two batters later Doelitsch homered to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.Â

The Falcons sent the minimum to the plate over the next three innings as the Dustdevils scored two to take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh. Back-to-back singles put a pair on with two outs for Bumford. She delivered with a base hit to score a run and tie the game at three to go to extra innings. The game remained tied until the seventh where the Dustdevils scored four runs, all unearned, to pull away in the end.Â

The Falcons are back home next week to face Western New Mexico in a three-game series beginning Tuesday, April 9.
