GOODYEAR, Arizona - After day one of the Hot Dirt Shootout the University of Texas Permian Basin is in third place at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona. J.T. Pittman is tied for third as an individual, while Will Tate is 11th and Sangha Park is 19th.
 
Pittman carded a first-round -2 (70) to pace the Falcons and sits three back of the lead. Tate went E (72) for the round and is tied for 11th. Park shot a first-round +1 (73) and is tied for 19th while Thonsaeng Nunya is tied for 26th at +2 (74). Nolan Otto rounds out the Falcon lineup in 87th at +8 (80).
 
Pittman's six birdies are the second most in the field and he shot -3 on the day on Par 4's. Tate is second in Par-3 scoring at -1.
 
As a team, the Falcons finished the day in third place at +1 (289). They sit just three shots behind Lone Star Conference rival DBU for the lead. DBU's Sam Jenkins and Chris Chomyn from Cal State-Stanislaus lead as individuals at -5 (67).
