UTPB Opens Final Series of the Year Against Cameron

The Falcons finish off the season tomorrow at noon

ODESSA, Texas - The University of Texas Permian Basin softball team opened their final series of the season with doubleheader action against Cameron. The Falcon bats were kept in check as the Aggies took game one 10-0 before taking game two 5-0, holding the Falcons to just six hits on the day.

Stephanie Jimenez and Melayna Lopez both had a pair of hits on the afternoon, picking one up in each game.

The Aggies opened the day with six runs in the first inning of game one. Lopez singled in the second while Jimenez picked up a hit in the fourth. The Falcons had their best chance in the fifth. Lopez reached on an error before moving to second on a single by Cheyenne Marquez. That's as much noise as the Falcons could make as the Aggies escaped the jam to preserve the shutout.

The Falcons were kept quiet in the second game until the fourth. Jimenez singled to open the inning before Lopez singled to put a pair on but couldn't push a run across. In the seventh, Delaney Doelitsch singled to cap the Falcon offense.

UTPB wraps-up the season tomorrow against Cameron at noon on Senior Day.
