AUSTIN, Texas - Destini Trahan had a strong performance for the University of Texas Permian Basin softball team on Saturday at St. Edward's in Austin, Texas. The senior threw 6.0 innings and allowed just three earned runs but it wasn't enough as the Falcons were defeated in both games of a doubleheader, 4-0 and 6-2.
The Falcon offense was kept in check in the first game, scattering just two singles and a walk. Trahan struck out one and allowed just four runs via small ball to score on the afternoon.
The offense woke up in the second game and struck for two runs in the top of the first.
Keri Sanford led off with a single and moved to second on a walk by
Mia Quintero. After a wild pitch put the pair into scoring position,
Stephanie Jimenez singled in a run for the early lead.
Kelsey Valo followed with a ground ball to make it 2-0 in favor of the Falcons.
That's all the offense they'd get as the rest of the way they scattered three hits and didn't get a runner to second.
UTPB and St. Edward's wrap up their three-game series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for noon.
