SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Cheyenne Marquez launched her third home run of the season while
Mia Quintero had an RBI single but it wasn't enough as the University of Texas Permian Basin softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader to St. Mary's, 12-3 and 11-1.
Â
The Falcons did all of their offensive damage in the third inning in game one.
Michaella Baker got things going with a lead-off single before
Emery Aguilar took over as a runner. She didn't need to show off her wheels as Marquez followed with a home run to left field.Â
Â
An error and a walk allowed the Falcons to put a pair on for
Melayna Lopez who drove in another run with a single. Despite the offensive outburst, the Rattlers put up seven in the bottom of the first, two in the second, and three in the third to put the game out of reach.
Â
The UTPB offense was kept in check in game two, recording just two hits. Those both came in the top of the third when Quintero drove in
Keri Sanford with a single. Falcon pitching struggled to find the plate, walking 11 batters.
Â
The Falcons look to take the final game of the series tomorrow with first pitch at 12 p.m. in San Antonio.
