ODESSA, Texas - The University of Texas Permian Basin softball team found some late offense against Oklahoma Christian but it wasn't enough to take the series finale in Odessa, Texas as the Falcons fell 3-2.
Â
Julia Bumford led the offense with a pair of hits while
Destini Trahan was strong in the circle, throwing 7.0 innings and allowing just three scattered runs.
Â
The visiting Eagles struck for runs in the first, second, and sixth while the Falcon offense struggled to get going. Bumford's single in the second and a pair of walks in the fourth were all the offense they could find until the seventh.Â
Â
Trailing 3-0 with three outs to go, UTPB rallied in the seventh. Back-to-back walks to
Mia Quintero and
Melayna Lopez started the inning before Bumford singled again to load the bases with no outs.
Â
Kylie Parker and
Michaella Baker both hit sacrifice flies to bring the Falcons within a run but that's as close as they'd get as the comeback came up just short.
Â
The Falcons hit the road to face Eastern New Mexico starting Tuesday, March 19.
