Falcons Get Nipped By Rams

ODESSA, Texas – It was a heartbreaking finish as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team (12-10 Lone Star Conference, 17-11) lost 68-67 to Angelo State (14-8 LSC, 19-9), Thursday night at the Falcon Dome.

Angelo State came out quick scoring the first seven points of the game.  The Rams had a 34-27 lead at halftime.

Down 35-27 in the second half, junior DJ Armstrong launched a bomb from the state of Maine.  That started a 19-4 run for UTPB.  Senior Keyon Craddock hit three free throws to make it 46-39, Falcons at the 14:53 mark.

Down seven, 53-46 with 10:33 to go, the Rams began to chip away.  ASU tied the game at 55 at the 8:21 mark.

UT Permian Basin regained the lead with 7:46 to go on a triple from Craddock.  UTPB had the lead the rest of the way until Angelo State scored with 10 seconds left.  The Falcons 3-point attempt was short at the buzzer.

For UT Permian Basin, junior Maison Adeleye had 21 points, 11 rebounds, three treys and was 9-of-16 from the floor, junior Alex Matthews had 12 points and Craddock scored 10 points with five assists.

For Angelo State, Kevon Godwin scored 24 points.

UTPB has finished the 2023-24 season.
