Falcons Open Home Season Against Lady Buffs

ODESSA, Texas – The University of Texas Permian Basin softball team (0-5, Lone Star Conference, 3-11) lost 7-0 and 13-0 to #2 West Texas A&M (5-0 LSC, 13-1), Saturday afternoon at Falcon Field.

Game - 1
For the first four innings, UTPB and West Texas A&M went toe-to-toe.  In the second inning, the Falcons loaded the bases on two walks and a hit with two outs.  The Lady Buffs got the next batter out to survive.

In the fifth inning, WTAMU took advantage of two errors to score three run and take control of the game.

For UT Permian Basin, Moses had two hits.  Senior Destini Trahan (0-4) gave up six hits, six runs with three earned, walked four and struck out two in five innings in two and one-third innings.

For West Texas A&M, Heidi Vortherms (7-0) gave up one hot, walked two and struck out five in five innings.

Game – 2
West Texas A&M took the early lead scoring twice in the first inning.  UTPB had a runner on base in the first and second innings.  The Lady Buffs managed to keep them from scoring.

WATMU scored eight runs in the third to effectively end the game.

For UT Permian Basin, freshman Morgan McGaugh (3-3) gave up six hits, seven runs with six earned, walked three and struck out three in three and two-third innings.

For West Texas A&M, Emilee Boyer (6-1) gave up one hit, walked one and struck out four in three innings.

UT Permian Basin closes out against West Texas A&M, Sunday, Feb. 25.  The game is scheduled to start at noon.
