Falcons Open Lone Star Season

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The University of Texas Permian Basin softball team (0-1, Lone Star Conference, 3-7) lost 9-1 to #22 Angelo State (4-0 LSC, 13-1), Tuesday afternoon at Mayer Field.

Angelo State scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to effectively seal the game.

In the top of the fifth, senior Emily Andress led off with a pinch hit double to center field.  Freshman Kaylee Moses delivered another pinch hit double to score Andress.

For UT Permian Basin, freshman Morgan McGaugh (2-2) gave up five hits, seven runs with six earned, walked three and struck out two in one and one-third innings.

For Angelo State, Cheyenne Floyd (9-0) gave up one hit, walked one and struck out 10 in four innings.

UT Permian Basin stays on the road, Wednesday Feb. 21 playing Angelo State.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
