Swim & dive wins three of four meets at double dual meet

Falcons combine to win 16 events in Sherman

SHERMAN, Texas (December 8, 2024) – The University of Texas Permian Basin men's and women's swimming & diving teams wrapped up the 2024 portion of their schedules and combined to win 16 of 30 events in a double dual meet at Austin College on Saturday, December 6. The UTPB men's team defeated McMurry University 193-74 and Austin 181-67 while the women's team defeated McMurry 123-89 but fell to AC, 133-103.

UTPB won 11 of 15 events on the men's side and added five wins on the women's side.

The UTPB men's team won both relay races, the 200 medley relay (1:38.81) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.23), as Leo Eleftherakis helped the Falcons to the win in both events.

Colin Doyle had a pair of wins in the 50 freestyle (21.72) and the 200 IM (2:00.30) and added a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.20). Nathan Powell won both the 200 butterfly (2:05.00) and the 200 breaststroke (2:16.25). Owen Putnam won the 100 butterfly (52.80) and was second in both the 1000 freestyle (10:12.07) and the 100 freestyle (49.62).

Legend Jankowski put together a trio of top-three finishes, taking first in the 500 freestyle (5:00.38), second in the 200 freestyle (1:49.90), and third in the 200 butterfly (2:10.56). Evan Siegrist also had a first, second and third-place finish to his credit as he won the 100 freestyle (9:55.81), was second in the 200 backstroke (1:59.30), and was third in the 100 backstroke (56.48). Also going 1-2-3 on the day was Avin Ward, who was first in the 200 backstroke (1:58.37), was second in the 200 butterfly (2:07.06), and was third in the 200 IM (2:09.46).

Zane Garner won the 100 backstroke (55.13) and was tied for third in the 200 IM (2:09.46). Chase Alderman was second in both the 100 breaststroke (1:01.76) and the 500 freestyle (5:07).

David Charles was second in the 100 butterfly (55.67) and was third in the 200 freestyle (1:53.42), and Ivan Torres Lopez was second in the 200 IM (2:01.23) and was third in the 100 freestyle (50.30).

On the women's side, Rowan McWhorter had a pair of wins in the 50 freestyle (25.63) and the 200 IM (2:18.74) and added a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.95).

Emma Gerhart won the 200 butterfly (2:19.17) and was second in both the 100 freestyle (1:00.61) and the 100 butterfly (1:05.63).

Olivia Blackman won the 1000 freestyle (12:26.98) and was second in the 200 backstroke (2:34.47), and Erika Hajduk was second in both the 200 freestyle (2:16.11) and the 500 freestyle (6:05.72).

In the women's 1-meter dive, Kathe Hepfer (193.95) was first, Camilla Aguilar (185.50) was second and Jessica Iracheta (116.55) was third.
