ODESSA, Texas (December 11, 2024) – UT Permian Basin sophomore
Colin Doyle was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week while senior
Kathe Hepfer earned the RMAC Women's Diver of the Week award as well for their performances for the week ending on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Doyle claimed individual wins in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley in the Falcons' double-dual victories against Austin College and McMurry University. He posted a time of 21.72 in the 50-yard freestyle and finished the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:00.30. Doyle pushed the UTPB 200-medley relay team to a victory and added a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.20).
"Colin is becoming a real leader on this team," said Head Coach
Brian Schroeder. "He is one of the hardest workers on the team and pushes himself and others."
Hepfer scored 193.95 to win the 1-meter diving event in a double-dual competition against Austin College and McMurry University.
Kathe Hepfer is a talented diver and is a great teammate," said Assistant Coach
Anna James. "She brings energy into every practice and provides an excellent example of leadership as our team captain."
This is the first time in program history that a swimmer from the UTPB men's or women's swimming & diving programs has been recognized by the RMAC with a weekly award.
Hepfer, meanwhile, earns the award for the second time in her career (Jan. 24, 2024).
It is also the first time UTPB has earned two RMAC awards in the same week in program history.
