LAWTON, Okla. (November 16, 2024) – The University of Texas Permian Basin volleyball team fought for its postseason life and defeated Cameron University in straight sets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-17), on the road on Saturday.
UTPB had at least 14 kills in all three sets and led 16-7 in the first set, 13-2 in the second and 18-8 in the third.
UTPB hit over .400 in each of the final two sets and hit .321 percent for the match while holding its opponent to .100 percent hitting or below for the ninth time this season.
The Falcons also did not give up a single service ace after giving up 10 during each of their previous two matches.
Freshman
Ashlee Macias was a force for UTPB, finishing with four of the Falcons' five aces in the match while also leading the match with nine kills, hitting .350 percent, and adding eight digs.
Senior
Chyra Thompson had eight kills on .438 percent hitting and also recorded four blocks. Senior
Gloria Geurin and junior
Grace Feddern both added eight kills as well. It was the second match in a row with eight kills for both Feddern and Thompson.
Graduate student
Logan Terrazas had six kills and hit .375 percent. It was her third time during UTPB's four-match winning streak to end the season in which she recorded six kills.
Senior
Gabby Gregorski had 10 digs and matched her season-high with seven assists while both junior
Jenna Gray and fellow-junior
Canyen Rodriguez dished out 15 assists.
UTPB (16-9 overall, 9-7 LSC) finished the regular season with a four-match winning streak.
