ODESSA, Texas (October 14, 2024) – UT Permian Basin junior cornerback
Jalani Jefferson was named the Lone Star Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Jefferson had two interceptions and five tackles to help the Falcons upset No. 9 Central Washington University on the road. Jefferson also had two pass breakups and one tackle for loss in the 14-13 win. Jefferson and company limited CWU to just 77 yards of offense in the second half and kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. It was the highest ranked team the Falcons have beaten in program history. Jefferson's two picks came in the first half and he broke up the Wildcats' final pass attempt of the game.
The Falcons return to Astound Broadband Stadium for their final home game of the season and Senior Day at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, against Western Oregon University.
