Falcons Keep Pirates At Bay

MIDLAND, Texas – It was a team effort as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's swimming & diving team (4-2) beat Southwestern (Texas) (4-4) 150-117, Saturday at COM Aquatics.

UTPB won seven events.  The Falcons went 1-2-3 in the 100-yard butterfly and on the 1 and 3M boards.

Earning victories was freshman Hailey Garcia-Rivas in the 100 fly (1:03.86), sophomore Emma Gerhart in the 200 free (2:05.81), sophomore Gabriela Gonzalez in the 100-yard freestyle (55.47), junior Kathe Hepfer on the 1M board (262.42 points), sophomore Delaney Murphy on the 3M board (283.95 points), freshman Chloe Siegrist in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:58.36) and the 200 free team of senior Avery Joiner, Gonzalez senior Ava Reaume and Gerhart (1:42.50).

Freshman Emi Goto qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Regionals on both the 1 and 3M boards.  She is the third female diver to qualify on both boards this season.

UT Permian Basin closes out the home season, Saturday, Jan. 27 against Southwestern.  The meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
