Falcons Cruise To Victory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Six first place finishes paced The University of Texas Permian Basin men's swimming & diving team on the final day of the Colorado College Classic, Sunday at Schlessman Natatorium.

UTPB scored 1373 points to win by 329.5 points over Colorado College.  Rounding out the top five were Colorado (3rd – 438.5 points), Adams State (4th – 334 points) and Midland  (5th – 218 points).

The Falcons had 31 top eight finishes and went at least 1-2 in five events.  The most impressive was taking the top five places in the 200-yard butterfly.

Victories came from freshman Chase Alderman in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.04), freshman Colin Doyle in the 200-yard IM (2:02.30), senior Trevor Heath in the 100-yard freestyle (47.55), senior Evan Siegrist in the 200 fly (1:57.58), junior Ivan Torres in the 500 free (4:46.14) and the 800 free relay team of Torres, junior Legend Jankowski, Siegrist and senior Daniel Bednarski (7:16.35).

Second place performances were earned by Alderman in the 200 IM (2:00.24), Doyle in the 100 free (47.89), Jankowski in the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.87), junior Nathan Powell in the 100 breast (1:00.56), sophomore Owen Putnam in the 200 fly (1:58.17), Siegrist in the 500 free (4:47.66) and the 200 free relay of Heath, sophomore Issac Velasquez, junior Szymon Gilzynski and Doyle (1:26.35).

UT Permian Basin closes out the home season, Saturday, Jan. 27 against Southwestern.  The meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
