Falcons Have Strong Showing

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A 1-2-3 finish on the 1M board was the highlight for The University of Texas Permian Basin women's swimming & diving team on Day 2 of the Colorado College Classic, Saturday at Schlessman Natatorium.

Colorado College is in first place with 625 points to 332 points for second place UTPB.  Rounding out the top five are Colorado State Pueblo (3rd – 292 points), Midland (4th – 157 points) and Colorado (5th – 149 points).

Freshman Emi Goto scored 414.95 points to win the 1M board.  Right behind her was junior Kathe Hepfer (2nd – 395.30 points) and sophomore Delaney Murphy (3rd – 395.30).

Sophomore Emma Gerhart was runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly.  Her time of 1:00.19 is sixth fastest in school history.  Sophomore Gabriela Gonzalez placed second in the 50 and 200-yard freestyle events (25.26, 2:00.59).

Fourth place finishes came from freshman Hailey Garcia-Rivas in the 100 fly (1:04.22) and the 400 free relay team of Gonzalez, senior Ava Reaume, Gerhart and senior Avery Joiner (3:48.98).

UT Permian Basin will wrap up the Colorado College Classic Sunday, Jan. 21.  The event is scheduled to run all day.
