Falcons Have Strong Outing at Freas Invitational

EDMOND, Ok. - Freshman Colin Doyle and junior Szymon Gilzynski had first place finishes as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's swimming & diving team placed second at the Sam Freas Invitational, Saturday at Mitch Park YMCA.  UTPB had 35 top eight finishes.

Oklahoma Christian scored 854.5 points to win by 153.5 points over the Falcons.

Gilzynski swam 52.37 to win the 100-yard butterfly.  He also was seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (22.30) and swam on the third place 200-yard medley and 400-yard free relays.

Doyle won the 100-yard free with a time of 47.67.  In addition, he was runner-up in the 200-yard free (1:46.87).

Second place performances came from freshman Alexander Brough in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events (1:00.48, 2:15.19) and sophomore Owen Putnam in the 100 fly (53.20).

UT Permian Basin will face off against McMurry, Saturday, Sept. 30 in a dual meet.  The meet is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
