UTPB Opens Up Season On Road

EDMOND, Ok. -Freshmen Alexander Brough and Colin Doyle had winning debuts as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's swimming & diving team (0-1) lost 150-93 to Oklahoma Christian (1-0), Friday night at Mitch Park YMCA.

Brough sparked a 1-2-3 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke swimming 1:01.82 to take first.  Behind him was senior Axel Torres Hecker (1:02.45) and freshman Chase Alderman (1:02.86).  Doyle swam 23.52 to win the 50-yard butterfly.

Taking home two second places were senior Trevor Heath in the 50-yard (21.92) and 100-yard (49.98) freestyle events and junior Niklas Heelein in the 200-yard (1:48.05) and 500-yard (4:58.24) free events.

Additional runner-up performances came from Alderman in the 50-yard (28.19) breast, Doyle in the 100-yard (52.49) fly and freshman Zane Garner in the 50-yard (25.64) backstroke.  The Falcons were second in the 400-yard (3:37.18) medley relay (junior Legend Jankowski, Brough, junior Szymon Gilzynski and Heath) and in the 200-yard (1:27.86) free relay (Heelein, Doyle, sophomore Issac Velasquez and Heath).

UT Permian Basin will compete in the Sam Freas Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 23.  The meet is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
