Falcons Play Tough On The Road

ABILENE, Texas – It was 90 minutes of hustle and effort as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's soccer team (0-1) lost 5-0 to NCAA Division I Abilene Christian (4-0-1), Friday night at Elmer Gray Stadium.

UT Permian Basin came out aggressive forcing the issue.  The Falcons had three corner kicks and three shots in the first 11 minutes of the game.

Abilene Christian scored twice in a three-minute span.  With 15:46 left in the first half, freshman Birta Run blasted a shot that the ACU goalie just managed to stop.

The Wildcats scored with less than five minutes left in the half.  In the first eight minutes of the second half, UTPB had three shots that just missed.  Abilene Christian scored twice in four minutes to seal the game.

UT Permian Basin had 10 shots with three on goal, three corner kicks and were called for 11 fouls.  Freshman Valeria Delgado had five saves.

Abilene Christian had 22 shots with 12 on goal, six corner kicks and were called for 11 fouls.

UT Permian Basin stays on the road, Thursday, Sept. 7 playing Colorado Christian.  The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., Mountain Time.
