The Texas heat was no match for head women's and men's golf coach Kyle Wittenbach who brushed off the low 100-degree weather and came out as the Stroke Play Champion at the Odessa Country Club in August.
 
The Stroke Play Championship flighted the best 22 players into the Championship flight, with three 18-hole rounds to determine the 2023 champion.
 
Wittenbach got better by the round, finishing with a 71 in the first round and then followed it up with a 70 in round two. Saving his best for last, in the final round Wittenbach shot a 67 (-5) – 7 shot victory - and sealed the win over Jerry Dugan Jr. and Austin Anderson.
 
In May UTPB Men's golf alum Austin Anderson - still the scoring record holder at UTPB 64 (-8) – won the Match Play Championship flight at Odessa Country Club, which consisted of the best 16 players at the club playing 18-hole matches until a winner was crowned.
 
Anderson defeated Jon Wardlaw – member at the club and former assistant golf professional at OCC - in the final and also defeated Wittenbach in route to his victory.
