ODESSA, Texas – The University of Texas Permian Basin Men's Golf team, fresh off its first appearance at an NCAA Regional, have signed incoming freshman Ioan Rowe from Swansea, Wales.
 
The program's first signing of the 2023 class brings with him national team experience, having represented Wales at the prestigious R&A Girls' & Boys' Home Internationals. Rowe also competed for Wales at the European Boys' Team Championship in Germany.
 
Atop an impressive resume of results that includes multiple appearances at the R&A Boys Amateur Championship, he was the winner of the South Wales Boys Championship in 2021. His lowest career round was a four-under 67 during the Welsh Boys Championship.
 
Born and raised by his parents Michaela and Carl Rowe, Ioan is excited to contribute to continued success for the Falcon golf program.
 
"I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to represent UTPB and have the experience of playing college golf," Rowe said.
 
"I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates and working with Coach Wittenbach and Coach Lopez. Hopefully I can contribute to a successful team in the years to come."
 
When asked about his new recruit, UTPB head coach Kyle Wittenbach mentioned an eagerness to get Rowe into competition immediately upon his arrival in West Texas.
 
"Ioan is a great competitor and we will certainly be able to utilize his skillset right away," Wittenbach said.
