ROHNERT PARK, Calif.
– The University of Texas Permian Basin men's golf program is tied for 15th place after the first round of action at the NCAA Division II West / South Central Regionals, posting a +13 with an overall score of 301.
Sangha Park was the top finisher for the Orange and Black, playing to par with a 72 and slotting among the top-15 overall, going two under on par 5 holes with a dozen pars on top of a trio of birdies.
Kongpop Kaikaew and
Tanner Wardlaw tied for second-best among his teammates at 76 (+4) with the former producing the sixth-highest birdie tally (5) while the latter dropped a "-1" on all par 5 courses.
Sebastian Bengtsson (77, +5) logged the seventh-lowest score during par 3s (-1), cobbling together nine pars as well as three birdies.
Thonsaeng Nunya (80, +8) just missed going for double-digit pars at nine while sinking a pair of birdies.
Rounds two and three of the NCAA Regionals at the Foxtail Golf Club will take place on Friday in northwestern California.
