ODESSA, TX – On a night that saw a lot of new faces in the circle for the UT Permian Basin Falcons, the UTPB hitters racked up 14 hits, including a long ball to support the new arms against the St. Mary's Rattlers Thursday afternoon in Odessa.
Angelina Arriaga homered in the sixth inning of the first game of the night.
Kelsey Valo added two hits to the total including a double.
Keri Sanford and
Mia Quintero each had three hits for the day.
Aracely Araiza had a hit and a stolen base.
There were a lot of first appearances in the circle for the Falcons. Senior outfielder
Aubree Beggs recorded her first strikeout of the season in her first appearance as a pitcher.
Riley Johnson had three strikeouts while
Abby Cousins had two.
In game one of the series the Falcons battled and played solid defensive throughout the game. Although they played the Rattlers close, a big inning late put away game one for St. Mary's 14-5.
Game two was tied at 0-0 heading in the third inning. However, homeruns in the third and fourth innings were too much for the Falcons to overcome as they drop game two 12-0.
The final game of this series will be Friday at 1pm at the UTPB Softball Fields.
