ODESSA, TX – UT Permian Basin softball continues to rack up hits in the opening games against nationally ranked UT Tyler.
The Falcons had 11 hits against the Patriots in both games including a homerun from
Mia Quintero, and two doubles from
Aracely Araiza.
Keri Sanford and
Julia Bumford had two hits each on the day.
In game one of the series, the Falcons tied UT Tyler on a long ball from Araiza 1-1. However, the Patriots found a groove in the fifth inning and put the game away 11-1.
The Falcons got on the board first in game two off a Bumford RBI single. After UT Tyler retook the lead in the later innings the Falcon's hitters got on the board again, off an Araiza RBI double. UTPB was not able to overtake the Patriots who went on to win game two 10-2.
The final game of the series will be Wednesday March 8 starting at noon at the UTPB Softball Park.
