LAS VEGAS, NV – UT Permian Basin men's golf headed off to the desert to take part in the most competitive tournament in program history at the Las Vegas Desert Classic.   
 
As a team, the Falcons finished ninth beating five teams ranked in the top 50.
 
Sangha Park again had a standout performance for the Falcons and against the field finishing sixth place beating five of the top 10 ranked golfers in the NCAA.
 
"This meet is unofficially a preview for the national championship tournament," said Head Coach Kyle Wittenbach. "We have a young team, but I think we performed well against the toughest field we have faced as a program."
 
The meet featured eight of the top 25 teams in the country and 13 teams in the top 50 in the nation.
 
Park went 74, 70, and 71 on the weekend to lead all Falcons. Sebastian Bengtsson shot 78, 74, 77; Thonsaeng Nunya went 81, 77, 72; Kongpop Kaikaew shot 79, 78, 74; and Tanner Wardlaw had an 84, 75, 75.
 
Next up for UTPB will be a trip to UT Tyler for a Medal Match Play, March 20-21 at Eagles Buff CC.
