Falcons Add Another Long Ball in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – UT Permian Basin's Cheyenne Marquez's two-run home run in the top of the third in Game 2 of the day would tie the contest before Oklahoma Christian University scored seven unanswered to put the game out of reach 14-6 victory.

UTPB could not find hits against OCU in game one as the Eagles took game one of the day 23-0.

In the fourth, UTPB would have runners on first and third after Kris Sanford's single back to the pitcher provided to be the team's only hit of the game.

In game two, after trailing 5-0 after the first inning, UTPB showed resilience and fought their way back into the game as the Falcons would send nine batters to the plate.

Five runs would be scored during the top of the third on four hits with one OCU error and a walk.

Aracely Araiza got the scoring started when she doubled to right center to score Emily Andress from first.

Julia Bumford and Quintero would drive in a run each still with one out before Marquez's two-out blast deep over the center field fence to drive in Quintero. The long ball was Marquez's second of the season.

Marquez would eventually drive in UTPB's final run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth allowing Bumford to trot in from third.

The Falcons and Eagles will return to action on Wednesday at noon.
